Resurfacing of roads in Observatory and Salt River

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents, road users, businesses and the broader public of roadworks along Falmouth Road, Liskeard Road, Anzio Road, Florence Avenue and Trill Road in Observatory as well as the resurfacing of Cecil Road, Swift Street and Lower Main Road in Salt River. The roadworks are planned to take place from today, 13 January 2025, until Wednesday 26 February 2025 between 07:00 and 17:00, Monday to Sunday, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays.

The details of the resurfacing and rehabilitation work include the milling of the existing roads and filling them with new asphalt surfacing layers.

All road markings removed during the process will be reinstated with new retro-reflective road marking paint.
‘We would like to thank road users and residents in Observatory and Salt River for their patience during this infrastructure-led project that will improve the road network. The plan is to ensure that all work is completed by the end of February this year to ensure that we keep Cape Town moving on safe resurfaced roads,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
